Informal Director Discussion Wiki
FrontPage discussion page
This wiki was set up by the 2009 Interim Director of Marketing & Communications (David Jess Borough) to faciliate communication to improve the position. It is a common whiteboard for unofficial communications and status reports about the position. Advantages of a wiki whiteboard include being able to see status reports and discussions on a particular topic all in one place without having to search thru a long chain of emails.
Announcements
2009-05-17--The board agreed today that everybody will add to the Membership Database Design Requirements section by Saturday 2009-05-23. David will post a complete requirements document to all board members by 2009-06-04, and at the board meeting somebody will propose it for a vote. After the board of directors thus "signs-off" on the requirements, David will go to work developing and implementing a database that meets all of the necessary requirements, some of the desired requirements, and probably none of the Would-be-nice requirements (2009-05-17, David)

Instructions
ASTD-VOS board members, please feel free to revise or add anything at all. You need to register for a free PB Works account in order to edit the site. After you log in, just click the Edit tab at the top of any page and edit away. Add a comment (on the bottom) to create a log entry for the page (like to explain a major revision that you make). See the Side Bar on the right side for a site map to this wiki whiteboard. See the detailed instructions page.
Current settings:
Intended audience: ASTD-VOS Board of Directors
Intended contributors: ASTD-VOS Board of Directors
Main editor: David Jess Borough (responsibility to provide major content, preserve organization and formatting, and to mediate discussions).
Security: The public can currently read the site, and any PB Works regsitrant (free) may revise the site (These settings can be changed as needed.)
Organizing principles: Ad hoc, voluntary, informal. You may link from outside sites or emails to any page, but just realize that it may change at any time. Nothing on this informal wiki is intended to imply any obligation or procedural requirement of any board members. Use it if it works for you, that's all.
Organization: This wiki whiteboard is like Wikipedia in that each page is really 3 pages linked together: Content, Discussion, and Comments. A Side Bar on the right is a site map to the major pages.
Identication of authors: Identify your postings in any way that you would like (David, 2009-05-17), color-coded, or leave them black to keep them semi-anonymous.

Set it up as an informal wiki for ASTD-VOS board member discussions on particular issues (newsletter, marketing blast, membership database), each with its own pages. It is particularly for the Marketing and Communications director position (that's me). Each page is set up with a Content page (meant for reading), a Discussion page (meant for really bashing things about until they fit), and a Comments log.

This comment is here to mark my intention that I am not trying to go beyond my position in any way by putting up the site (That is why there is so much emphasis on informalilty). Nothing on this informal wiki is meant in any way to imply any procedural obligations of any board members. Simply enjoy it and use it as a tool if it works for you, that's all.
